Latin America is one of the regions with the highest degree of biodiversity in the world. However, these valuable resources are threatened by human activities.
The eco.business Fund Sub-Fund I provides financing for private-sector projects that contribute to the preservation of bio-diversity or to the sustainable use of natural resources.
By investing in the eco.business Fund Sub-Fund I, OeEB contributes to climate protection and climate change mitigation. Moreover, the preservation of natural resources helps fight poverty - especially in rural areas where people depend on functioning ecosystems.
In 2018, eco.business Fund won a special ALIDE Award from the Latin American development bank community for its excellence in tackling climate change. More information
In order to enhance the fund’s impact, the Fund has established a Development Facility (DF) to support partner institutions in these areas, which OeEB supports with Technical Assistance funds.
