Latin America is one of the regions with the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. However, this biodiversity is under significant threat from human activities.

The eco.business Fund Sub-Fund I provides dedicated financing for private-sector projects that contribute to the conservation of biodiversity or the sustainable use of natural resources.

In doing so, the fund makes an important contribution to climate protection and to both the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. At the same time, it helps provide rural populations, whose livelihoods depend on healthy, functioning ecosystems, with a stable economic foundation, thereby contributing to poverty reduction.

In 2018, eco.business Fund won a special ALIDE Award from the Latin American development bank community for its excellence in tackling climate change. More information

In order to enhance the fund’s impact, the Fund has established a Development Facility (DF) to support partner institutions in these areas, which OeEB supports with Technical Assistance funds.
