Currently, living spaces in this city are mostly heated using firewood and electricity from brown coal power plants; an energy-inefficient method with negative impact on the environment.

An efficient municipal heating system will provide an ecologically beneficial, lower-cost and reliable alternative. The aim of the project is the improvement of the municipal heating supply, resulting in improved general living conditions.

Focus region

Kosovo is a core region of the Austrian development cooperation (OEZA) and is part of the OeEB focus region Western Balkans. The cooperation with the strong financing partner KfW plus support from the EU allows OeEB to contribute to the improvement of the energy situation in this difficult but important region for Austria.

Consultants

"iC consulenten" and "Energieconsulting Heidelberg International GmbH" have been commissioned to perform the implementation consulting for the project. By concluding this risk participation, OeEB is supporting the social and economic development of Kosovo and contributing to climate- and environmental protection.
