Since 2017, OeEB has been contributing to the Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund (CMCF). In addition, it supports the fund management (Catalyst Investment Management "CIM") in optimising internal processes as well as capacity building in the field of environment and social affairs.

The Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund (CMCF) is the only fund specialized in renewable energy in the MENA region. The technical assistance project (TA) supports the investment management team with trainings and workshops on governance issues and environmental and social risk management. Strengthening the team’s capacity and competences allows to take environmental and social aspects better into account in the fund investments and to improve them in a targeted manner.
In addition, with the help of the technical assistance funds provided by the OeEB, the Catalyst Investment Management (CIM) was able to benefit of the services of experienced consultants in the private equity sector. They support the team in evaluating the current processes as well as in developing and implementing suggestions for improvement.
The measures mentioned above support both the development of a first-class fund management platform for the management of clean energy funds as well as capacity building in the environmental and social fields.
