Central America and the Caribbean are still among the poorest regions of the world. The region's deficient infrastructure is one of the major obstacles for economic development. However, there is insufficient financing available for the implementation of infrastructure projects.

The Central American Mezzanine Infrastructure Fund II (CAMIF II) was founded in order to help close this financing gap. The USD 188.2 million fund provides financing for private infrastructure projects in various sectors (e.g. energy, transportation, telecommunication, health and education). Around 30% of the Total Investment Amount shall be invested in renewable energy projects.
