In May 2024, OeEB signed a bilateral credit line of EUR 20 million with Badsha Textiles Ltd. (“BTL”). The loan provided by OeEB will support the setting up of a greenfield spinning mill to produce high-quality yarns.

Established in 2004, BTL belongs to Badsha Group the largest yarn manufacturer in the country and one of the top-tier, vertically integrated sweater and woven garment manufacturing and exporting groups in Bangladesh. 

BTL currently has a capacity of 240 MT per day or 222,000 spindles ring frame and 6400 rotor head and around 6,000 employees, 70% of whom are women. The greenfield spinning mill with a capacity of 185,856 spindles or 196 MT per day will be set-up in Habiganj, Sylhet. The project will enable Badsha Group to further expand the capacity of its existing spinning operations and to produce high-quality yarns and blended yarns. 

The project not only contributes to the creation of over 3,600 new direct and indirect jobs and female employment in the value chain, but also to import substitution and a reduction in lead time for the supply of high-quality yarns required by the knitting and RMG sector in the country.
