AAIF aims to support SMEs from Austria or the European Union in setting up businesses in Africa in order to create local jobs and enable sustainable development. The Austrian Ministry of Finance commissioned OeEB with the implementation of the investment facility.
In addition, OeEB supports the companies to be financed with project-preparatory and accompanying technical assistance measures, for example in the field of environmental and social risk management, as well as in terms of technical, legal and business management issues.
By providing TA funds, OeEB is better able to assess risks during the project development phase, as well as the capacity of SMEs. Based on this and in collaboration with external consultants, proposals for improvement are developed which contribute to the reduction of risks for SMEs and help build up know-how and capacities within the companies.
